Sitka is hosting the Ukalaliens™ Workshop & Singalong to raise ukulele joy in Lincoln City as a preview to the 2011 Westwind Uke Camp with workshops, music, great teachers and fun for everybody. Join us for the day at the Neskowin School filled with ukuleles and Ukalaliens™ to learn from scratch and sing together. Bring your copy of Rise Up Singing for lyrics! Contact Rebecca at rebeccawelti@sitkacenter.org. 10 AM - 12 PM Tuition: $35 Total Cost: $35 Minimum Age Level:18 Skill Level: Intermediate Description Location: Neskowin Valley School, 10005 Slab Creek Rd, Neskowin, OR • 503-392-3124 This is for experienced students who are competent with a variety of chords. (For example: A, Am, B7, C, C7, D, Dm, E, Em, F, G, and G7.) Participants will also understand simple chord progressions, be able to sing and strum at the same time, and learn chords to simple tunes fairly quickly. Come work on technique, arrangements, and how to explore and play well with others. Material will include original & traditional folk and ethnic music. You will have ample opportunity to apply learning in small and large groups. After this workshop, you are welcome to practice & socialize before joining the entire group for the singalong from 2:30 PM to 4 PM. (Register for the singalong separately.) Using the "Rise Up Singing" songbook, Kate & Steve will engage the group in learning dynamics, harmony, and group singing for maximum enjoyment by even the most shy. Lunch will be available for purchase as a fundraiser for the Neskowin Valley School or bring your own lunch. Childcare for ages 4 and older is available from 10 AM to 4 PM for $10 per child.
